On-Campus Transportation
Overview
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) of Cal Poly provides on-campus transportation service to eligible students registered with our office. Tram/van service is available to students with permanent or temporary mobility impairments. The service operates between the hours of 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Requirements
Mobility impaired students should initailly verify their disability with the DRC office by providing medical documentation from a physician or licensed professional.
Students with temporary mobility impairments may receive on-campus transportation for an initial one week period by coming to the DRC office to complete a green application card. Students will be given a form for their doctor to verify the disability--this must be returned to our office within one week in order for services to be extended.
Students with permanent disabilities should schedule an intake appointment with a DRC Access Specialist to discuss and make arrangements for appropriate services. At this meeting, students will review the On-Campus Transportation Processes and Responsibilities to confirm that they understand policies related to the provision of these services.
Provision of Services
Students desiring to be picked up on a regular basis will complete a quarterly tram schedule and submit it to the DRC. The tram will only pick up and drop off students at designated tram-stops.
Tram service is available on an on-call basis; however, scheduled riders have first priority. To obtain on-call service, call the DRC office at 756-1395.
PLEASE BE ON TIME! The tram drivers will wait for students a maximum of two minutes after the designated pick up time.
Notify the DRC office if there are any changes in requested pick up times and/or locations, or to cancel a pick up.
Note
During the initial intake appointment, students will review the On-Campus Transportation Process and Responsibilities (pdf) with their Access Specialist.
You may contact Debie McArdle (dmcardle@calpoly.edu ), Tram and Testing Coordinator, with any questions or concerns.
