Student Academic Services (SAS)
Cal Poly's Summer Institute (SI) is an academic orientation program held annually for newly admitted freshmen. SI is geared at helping students make a successful transition from high school to college.
The Academic Skills Center (ASC) offers a variety of retention programs and campus support services including Online Study Skills Library, Study Session Program and the Campus Tutoring Resource List.

Study Session provides qualified peer facilitators to lead bi-weekly discussion groups for 39 lower division classes focused in biology, chemistry, civil and mechanical engineering, computer engineering, mathematics, physics and statistics.
Upward Bound (UB) provides fundamental support to local low-income, first-generation college bound high school students. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. These positions are available for UB.
