The chart below outlines the estimated cost to attend Summer Institute, however, it is expected that EOP students will receive full grants and scholarships to attend. EOP and low-income students selected to participate in SI, will have full financial assistance to cover the costs of the program as long as they file the 2016-2017 FAFSA. (See below)

Financial Aid is Available!

Financial Aid to attend Summer Institute is available! SI applicants MUST COMPLETE the on-line FAFSA for the 2016-2017 year, utilizing tax information from 2015.

Information for using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool

Under the “Financial Information” tab on your FAFSA report, you will come across an optional box to select the “IRS Data Retrieval Tool.”  The purpose of this tool is to directly link your tax information with the information needed on your FAFSA.  This portion of the FAFSA will ask you a series of questions that determine your eligibility to use the tool.  The first question in the "Financial Information" section will ask you if your parents have already completed their IRS income tax return. If they have, make sure you select “Already Completed” in the drop down menu.  After selecting your parent's filing status, if you select “no” for each of the following questions, the option to enter your pin number and link to the IRS will display.  By clicking on the link, you will be redirected to the IRS page, upon which you should enter your information the exact way that you entered your information on your tax return.  You will then click on the “Submit” and "Transfer Now" buttons to finish the process.

It is best to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool immediately upon filing your FAFSA the first time, so that you do not have to go back and update it using the same tool at a later time.  Using this tool initially will save you time and ensure that your financial aid is awarded in a timely manner.  In addition, it may reduce the chance that you will be “flagged for verification” on your Portal.
