Job Opportunities with Student Academic Services
Students who wish to be considered as facilitators for the Supplemental Workshops in Science program should complete and submit an application/resume/letters of recommendation to Academic Skills Center, Kennedy Library, bldg. 35, room 112.
Applicants must be enrolled Cal Poly students in good standing with an overall GPA of 3.00 or greater. They must have earned A's or B's in the class they would like to lead, and have taken it within the past 3-4 quarters. Usually applicants are majors in that subject. Applicants will submit an application and provide a resume and two confidential letters of recommendation from Cal Poly professors.
Applicants must be able to work 16 hours per week as follows: attend the lecture, develop lesson plans, lead two workshops twice a week for an hour and a half, attend weekly staff meetings, and meet with the course professor once a week.
Salary: Beginning salary $10.50 per hour
Trained facilitators make $11.00 per hour.
In general, applicants should enjoy working with others, have demonstrated subject mastery, and be able to work with groups of up to 20 students.
