Students who wish to be considered as facilitators for Supplemental Workshops in Science should complete an application at Student Academic Services, located at Hillcrest Building 81.
Applicants must be enrolled Cal Poly students in good standing with an overall GPA of 3.00 or greater. They must have earned As or Bs in the class they would like to lead, and have taken it within the past 3-4 quarters. Usually applicants are majors in that subject. Applicants will provide two confidential letters of recommendation from Cal Poly professors.
Applicants must be able to work 16 hours per week as follows: attend the lecture, develop lesson plans, lead two workshops twice a week for an hour and a half, attend weekly staff meetings, and meet with the course professor once a week.
Salary: Facilitators are paid $10.14 per hour ($1,622/quarter), or $10.66 per hour ($1,705.60/quarter) upon the successful completion of the Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) training provided by Student Academic Services.
In general, applicants should enjoy working with others, have demonstrated subject mastery, and be able to work with groups of up to 20 students.
