Joining Upward Bound provided me with opportunities to become a leader while surrounding me with other college bound students just like me. - Julio Uribe

Upward Bound provides fundamental support to local low-income, first-generation college bound high school students. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits.

The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. Services that we provide include a 6 week residential summer school session at Cal Poly, tutoring, career advisement, supplemental instruction, and cultural and recreational activities.
